    As always this attachment 5.21.11 e-news has complete details, here are some tidbits of what’s happening…

    The exam schedule is included on the attachment , please look it over carefully to make sure your student is present for each of their exams and is here on time.

    May 19, Saturday 7:00 pm – Freedom Night at HPBC – Sponsored by HPBC Herd and Crash Ministries Students attending this event and purchasing a t-shirt ($20) to support this project can wear their t-shirt with jeans Tuesday, May 22 & 29.  The proceeds from T-shirt sales will help organizations that are mobilized to help people avoid falling victim to slavery and help get those that are in, out!  If your student cannot attend but would like to join in the Freedom Is Hers support, they can purchase a t-shirt during lunch on Monday.

    Beginning Thursday, May 31 – We will have Jeans Days for the rest of the year (please make sure your student follows the jeans day dress code, no sheer tops for girls, no gym shorts, sweat pants etc…so you can take your out grown, used/in good condition uniforms to Encore for the Uniform Resale.  More details to come.

    Check out this Great Opportunity for your student’s Sports Physical needs for next school year…Henry Ford Sports Medicine Division is sponsoring Comprehensive Sports Physicals and Expo, to be held from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, June 2, in the Ridler Field House at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield. Henry Ford physicians will be available to provide comprehensive sports physicals that include a complete medical history and physical, an Orthopedic/sports medicine consultation and cardiac screening with an electrocardiogram. At the expo, athletes and parents can visit sports-related exhibitors offering products and services, such as performance enhancement, concussion testing, and sports nutrition.     In response to our iPad security breach we wanted to make sure that every family recognized the need for an internet filtering solution at your home.  There are many solutions available, but Mr. Peter Webber (SCS IT Director) wanted to provide you with information regarding a free internet filtering system.    Please feel free to view their website http://www.opendns.com/parental-controls to gain more information.

    Advanced ticket purchase for the game below are available today after lunch for $6 each.

    The Varsity Boys Basketball would love your support Tuesday, March 20 when the play Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary in the State Quarter-finals, 7:00 pm at Waterford Mott High School (1151 Scott Lake Rd, Waterford Township, MI  48328).  Advancement from this point will play Thursday evening at 6:00 pm at Breslin Center in Lansing.

    Spring Sports are in full swing…all athletes must have a sports physical form on file to participate.  Their Athletic fees must also be paid by March 30, 2012

    School Play…Twains Tales 7:30 pm, Friday & Saturday, March 23 & 24 … Advance Ticket sales are $5 for students $ 7 adults & at the door are $7 & $10.  Tickets are available in the Administration offices.

    Spring Sports begin Monday, March 12…all athletes must have a sports physical form on file to participate. You will find more detailed info on the e-news attachment regarding times and locations of practice.

    10th Grade Parent Meeting will be held Tuesday, March 13 in the Atrium at 7:30 pm.  This meeting will help you get ready for your student’s Junior year and all the College requirements and testing that you will need to be aware of.  Please make every effort to attend this important meeting.

    As we approach February Break, please pray for our Jamaica Mission Trip that they will be able to share and experience God in many ways and safe travels for them and the Europe Trip.

    Encore is sponsoring a Furniture drive with a Thank You jeans day February 1. Please see attachment for more details.

    We will have No School (K-12) – Monday, January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Day…

    Encore is sponsoring a Furniture drive and as a Thank You, your student will get a jeans day February 1 for your furniture donation from now until Friday, January 30.  They are here on site the next two Wednesday mornings from 7:30 – 8:30am, you can drop off at the store or call to make arrangements for pick-up.

    Just a quick note regarding the jeans day previously announced for this Friday (1.6.12)…it has been rescheduled to next Friday (1.13.12) due to the Senior Recognition program (we have announced to students all week as well).  All students 9-11 must be in uniform dress code and all seniors must be in appropriate program attire that was discussed with them in their meeting with Mrs. Hoffenbacher.

    Senior Recognition Day – 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012 we will present the entire senior class in a special ceremony in the high school gym before their parents and our student body. After that our seniors, along with their parents, are invited to a brunch in Fellowship Hall.  Senior Recognition is a celebration of character and the characters we have in the Class of ’12 J.  We’d love to have every senior parent here to enjoy it.  Brunch tickets and more information were sent home.  Additional brunch tickets are available through 3:00 pm today. (at which time the caterer will be given the total count)

    Friday, January 6, 2012 is the deadline to purchase $100 of Eagle Bucks for a jeans day next Wednesday, January 11 for your student.  Get gas or grocery cards and help SCS with things you already buy. Thank You!!

    Parent Meeting for Europe Trip Participants:  Tuesday, Jan. 10th (7:00-8:00 pm in the Atrium) Important information will be given out at this meeting.  It is important that at least one parent attend.  Students do not need to attend this meeting.  Parents should bring their child’s passport with them to the meeting.

    Exam time is quickly approaching, so you will find the exam schedule on page two of the e-news document, please open and check carefully for your students class and exam time.  Students only need to be present for exams they are taking.  If they aren’t taking an exam they do not need to be in the building.  If they are in the building and are not taking an exam, they must go to study hall, they may not hang out waiting for a ride.

    PTF Homemade Bake Sale

    Though the sale isn’t until Monday, December 12 in the North Atrium, the PTF is looking now for those of you who bake like champions. It could be you or some other family member who would be willing to donate any homemade yummy item (fudge, cookies, pies, etc.) For each baked item (ex: a pie, 3 dozen cookies, etc) you will be given one service hour.  Please contact Colleen Perkins at cperkins@highlandparkbaptist.com about your willingness to help. Thanks.
