Attendance Policy

High School Attendance

248.357.3660 ext. 245

What to do when -

Your student is sick: Call the high school office at ext 245, or write a note with reason and dates of absence on day of return. Our school messenger voice mail system will contact you on the day of absence if we have not heard from you.

Your student has a medical/dental appointment: Contact the high school office by phone or note with time and date of appointment.

You are planning a family trip: First, rethink it; then, if the educational value still outweighs the vacation value, then call or write a note communicating dates and whom the student is traveling with to the high school office at least one week prior to your trip so that your student may get school work and test information prior to leaving. (Max is 6 per trip and 10 per year)

Your student is an athlete and doesn’t feel well: An athlete must be present by the end of first period to be eligible to participate for that day in practice or competition.

Your student is late: Students are allowed 4 tardies to class and to school each marking period without any penalty. On the fifth tardy, they will receive one half hour detention; on the seventh tardy, one hour detention; on the ninth, 2 one hour detentions; and a ½ day suspension for 10. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late to school will receive a one hour detention and a tardy.

For complete attendance policies and procedures see the Attendance Policies section of the student handbook.
